ŠABAC, Serbia: The Serbia humanoid robot factory began mass production on August 29, backed by a €20 million first-phase investment and a partnership between China’s Minth Group and robotics company AGIBOT.

The Development Agency of Serbia described the launch at Minth Metal Parts Majur in Šabac as Europe’s first mass production of humanoid robots. Serbia’s government more narrowly called it the first humanoid robot factory in Serbia and the region.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attended the opening and placed a serial marking on the first robot with Minth Group’s founder.

Vučić said he hoped the facility would initially assemble more than 5,000 robots a year before expanding production.

Minth and AGIBOT plan to develop a larger Robotics Industrial Park in Inđija during the project’s next phase. The Development Agency of Serbia put the total planned investment at €200 million.

Once completed, the project targets an annual capacity of up to 20,000 humanoid robots and robotic dogs for European and global markets.

AGIBOT will contribute technology in humanoid robotics, artificial intelligence and robotic systems, while Minth provides manufacturing infrastructure.

Minth also plans to expand its Serbian operations into unmanned aerial vehicles and advanced batteries, according to the Serbian government.

Xinhua reported that Vučić described Serbia as becoming a pioneer in the production of European serial humanoid robots. The facility follows the earlier cooperation announced by Serbia, Minth and AGIBOT to establish a large-scale European production base.
