The Canadian government has released a travel advisory for its citizens planning to visit Pakistan in light of the country’s fluctuating security conditions, per Islamabad’s diplomatic sources.
The advisory from Ottawa aims to ensure the safety and security of Canadian citizens in Pakistan. The Canadian High Commission in Pakistan has advised Canadians to exercise extreme caution due to the uncertain security environment. It recommends avoiding unnecessary travel within the country and particularly to border areas.
Specifically, the advisory suggests staying away from areas within 50 kilometres of the Afghanistan border and 10 kilometres of the borders with China, India, and Iran. Additionally, it cautions against unnecessary travel to Karachi city due to the risk of violence and terrorism.
The Canadian government advises its citizens to avoid locations where demonstrations and large gatherings occur, to always be vigilant in public spaces, and to carry photo identification. Canadians are urged to remain flexible with their travel plans, stay informed about local news for updates on the security situation, and heed the guidance of local authorities.
This updated advisory is particularly pertinent given the recent surge in terrorist activities, especially in the regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
