A Boeing aircraft crash-landed at Istanbul Airport on Wednesday due to a malfunction with its front landing gear.
Video captured the moment the FedEx Airlines plane skidded along the runway, emitting sparks and smoke as it touched down.
Before the incident, the pilots, en route from Paris to Istanbul, realized the front landing gear would not deploy. They promptly notified air traffic control, which directed the emergency landing at Istanbul Airport.
Turkish officials confirmed there were no injuries or casualties, thanks to the immediate response of firefighting teams who managed the sparks.
The affected runway was temporarily closed after the incident, although the airport continued operations on its other runways.
This event follows recent incidents involving Boeing aircraft. Last month, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 flying to Houston had to return to Denver after part of its engine cover detached and hit the wing flap shortly after takeoff. The plane landed safely, and passengers were transferred to another flight.
Additionally, in January, Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX passengers experienced panic when a door opened mid-flight shortly after departure from Portland to Ontario, California.
In response to these incidents, including the January 5th Alaska Airlines mishap, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has limited production of Boeing’s 737 MAX jets and demanded Boeing address ongoing quality-control issues comprehensively.
