On Monday, a bomb blast near a police vehicle parked in Quetta, Pakistan, claimed at least four lives and injured 18 others, including two police officers.
The blast occurred near Qandhari Bazar on Shahrah-i-Iqbal in Quetta. The Quetta Civil Hospital spokesperson Dr. Wasim Baig confirmed the deaths, which included a minor girl. The explosives were planted in a motorcycle, and the blast destroyed two vehicles, including the police van. The target of the attack was the police vehicle.
The police official, SSP Operations Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin, said that three to four kilos of explosives were used in the blast. TV footage showed the damaged police vehicle surrounded by personnel while several ambulances were leaving the explosion site.
This attack comes a day after two police officers from the Eagle Squad were martyred, and one was injured in an attack by unknown assailants in the Killi Spine area of the Kuchlak district.
The police officers were patrolling on a motorcycle when the attackers opened fire, leaving three people injured. The Quetta DIG Ghulam Azfar Maheser confirmed that terrorists targeted the policemen. Such attacks have become commonplace in Pakistan, particularly in Quetta and the neighboring regions, which have witnessed terrorist attacks over the past few years.
