Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for withdrawing from the assembly, highlighting the negative impact on the party and the nation.
During a National Assembly session on Wednesday, Bilawal expressed his previous warnings to PTI against leaving the assembly. “Today, they are facing consequences, and so is the country,” he noted.
He called on PTI to persist in the legal battle for its jailed chairman, Imran Khan and urged them to return to parliament to serve the populace.
Bilawal voiced concerns about the current state of politics and its repelling effect on the younger generation. “Our actions are deterring these children from aspiring to be politicians. We have rendered politics a disgrace,” he commented.
He emphasized the importance of fulfilling their duties by creating job opportunities for the youth.
Addressing the political climate, he criticized provincial leaders for using offensive language at rallies rather than addressing public concerns. He specifically referred to K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s conduct at a PTI rally in Islamabad, where Gandapur harshly criticized the government and judiciary. “Such behaviour fails to serve the people of his province,” Bilawal remarked.
Bilawal highlighted Gandapur’s aggressive stance at a recent event, where he threatened to secure the PTI founder’s release if he was not legally freed soon. He also mentioned Gandapur’s plan to organize a rally in Lahore despite potential restrictions.
Bilawal lamented the deteriorating interpersonal relations in politics, stating, “We have reached a point where we don’t even shake hands anymore.”
Finally, Bilawal proposed forming a parliamentary committee involving all political parties to tackle the ongoing issues. “While we can all hold rallies, forming a parliamentary committee is essential to address these matters,” he suggested.
