The US The State Department, through a letter, informed the court that Siegel will not record his statement due to his health issues and has sought one month time for him.

The letter was presented in the court by the officials of foreign affairs ministry.

It may be noted that US lobbyist Mark Siegel had refused to come to Pakistan to record his statement in the murder case of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto because of security concerns, however, the US author was willing to record his statement via video link.
