In a distressing social media video, now removed, Bam Margera, the 43-year-old star of ‘Jackass,’ threatened to resort to drug abuse until his demise unless his former spouse, Nicole Boyd, allows him to see their five-year-old son, Phoenix. The post surfaced amidst an ongoing custody dispute between the ex-couple over Phoenix.
Margera alleges that he has been unable to see his son for over two months due to Boyd restricting all contact. He also accuses his parents, April and Phil Margera, and Boyd, of being catalysts to his alcoholism.
Boyd, aged 39, expressed her hopes for Margera to maintain sobriety for Phoenix’s sake and his wellbeing through her attorney, David Glass.
Glass, citing TMZ, explained that addiction doesn’t operate on blaming others for an individual’s substance abuse. He stressed the need for Margera to accept accountability for his actions and sincerely wishes for his sobriety in the best interest of him and their son.
However, Margera’s troubling video, in which he threatens self-harm, will likely be a significant hurdle in his custody battle.
Despite some recent progress, Margera’s struggle with addiction, which previously barred him from involvement in ‘Jackass’ projects, seems to persist.
The alarming video follows Margera’s stand-up comedy tour with his former ‘Jackass’ co-star Steve-O months ago.
Boyd and Margera ended their ten-year relationship in 2021, and Boyd filed for divorce in February 2023 to safeguard herself and Phoenix. She is pursuing child support payments of $15,000 monthly and alimony.
Boyd is aiming for sole custody of Phoenix but agrees to supervise visitation for Margera, conditional on completing a rehab program.
In the same video, Margera also touched upon an ongoing dispute with his brother, Jess Margera, who accused him of an assault at his Pennsylvania home and has since banned him from the premises.
The disagreement between the brothers escalated earlier this year when Jess claimed Bam was using meth. Bam refuted these allegations, asserting he had provided a negative drug test.
