An accountability court in Quetta has sent former chairman Balochistan Public Service Commission Muhammad Ashraf Magsi on a four-day remand in the custody of National Accountability  Bureau (NAB).

The NAB officials present Ashraf Magsi in the accountability court on Tuesday to seek the remand.

The ex-chairman Balochistan Public Service Commission Muhammad Ashraf Magsi was arrested on Monday for alleged misuse of authority in the appointment of head mistresses and section officers in 2012.

A corruption reference had already been filed with the Accountability Court, Quetta, against Magsi and two ex-deputy directors of the BPSC, Abdul Waheed and Niaz Muhammad Kakar.

Two daughters of Ashraf Magsi (Abida Magsi and Azra Magsi) besides another woman were appointed against the posts of headmistress (BPS-17) in the education department through the BPSC.

During the inquiry, it was found that the B.Ed. degrees of all the three candidates were fake following which their services were terminated. Later, during the course of investigation, it was found that the fake degrees were managed by Muhammad Ashraf Magsi.

Moreover, one son of Ashraf Magsi (Asad Magsi) and one son of Abdul Waheed (Sajid Waheed), Deputy Director Examinations BPSC, were also appointed as section officers in 2012.

Both the candidates got first and second position respectively in the competitive examinations held in 2012 for the posts of section officers.

Ashraf Magsi, Abdul Waheed and Niaz Muhammad Kakar in connivance with each other got appointed thousands of employees illegally by misusing their authority for which a reference has now been filed by the NAB with the Accountability Court Quetta.
