Hyderabad: Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari cast her first vote in Tando Allahyar on Thursday and left for Karachi after a brief stay.
She cast the vote in Jhando Mari taluka’s UC Meerabad where a contest was seen between PPP’s Mir Pappu Talpur and independent candidate Murad Ali Shah for a district council seat.
PPP’s chairman, vice chairman and four general councillors of this UC have already returned unopposed from this area.
Ms Bhutto-Zardari, the youngest daughter of Benazir Bhutto, had her vote registered there in Sept 2013. This area falls in Tando Allahyar’s only National Assembly seat of the district, NA-223, a seat from where her mother and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto had contested the last election of her life in 1997. It used to be NA-171 then.
Ms Bhutto-Zardari reached Tando Allahyar in a helicopter along with her sister Bakhtawar who took her photo while she was casting the vote. Her helicopter made an emergency landing in a field soon after it took off, but then flew again to take her to Karachi.
