PTI’s Imran Khan has tasked ex-NA speaker Asad Qaiser with contacting parties protesting election fraud. After visiting Khan in Adiala Jail, Qaiser revealed plans for imminent nationwide protests, as directed by Khan. He’s set to engage with leaders like Maulana Fazlur Rehman and ANP representatives, highlighting global inattention to the alleged rigging.
Qaiser emphasized constitutional adherence, urging the chief justice’s intervention. He reiterated his loyalty to Khan’s decisions. PTI’s Barrister Saif also disclosed Khan’s nomination of Qaiser’s brother for the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker role.
Saif relayed Khan’s critique of the U.S. response to the elections, suggesting a need for a stronger stance in support of PTI. This unfolds amid a breakdown in PTI’s potential collaboration with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) at the provincial level, marked by a recent rejection from JI, stalling government formation discussions.
JI’s spokesperson indicated a shift in PTI’s stance, affecting their cooperation agreement, initially poised for national collaboration. JI is now reevaluating its position following PTI’s late pivot to a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government focus.
In contrast, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sherani faction will support PTI amidst these negotiation challenges.
