Islamabad: Pakistan issued an Afghan envoy demarche over the Karachi Rangers camp attack after officials said Afghan nationals took part in the assault, the Foreign Office said.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Afghan chargé d’affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last night.
Andrabi said Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, also conveyed a similar démarche to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
The Foreign Office said the demarches followed the capture of one Afghan national alive during the attack. It said the incident showed Afghan soil and Afghan nationals were being used to plan terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
The Inter-Services Public Relations said three Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel were martyred and four were injured when militants attacked a Rangers camp in Karachi. ISPR said the attackers detonated explosives at the main gate before trying to breach the camp’s perimeter.
Rangers troops killed three militants and captured one injured attacker, identified by ISPR as an Afghan national.
