NEW YORK, United States: The Bryant Park 9/11 memorial will feature 2,753 empty chairs and a free concert on September 11, marking 25 years since the World Trade Centre attacks.
The Day of Remembrance will begin at 8 a.m. EDT; visitors can write remembrance notes and place carnations on chairs arranged across the Manhattan park’s lawn.
Each chair will represent a life lost at the World Trade Centre, according to the event information. Bank of America will donate $25 for each of the first 3,000 carnations placed by visitors.
The money will support the NYC Police Foundation, FDNY Foundation and Port Authority PBA Widows’ and Children’s Fund. The American Symphony Orchestra will perform a free memorial concert from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. EDT.
The program lists works by Aaron Copland, George Walker, Charles Ives, Joseph Haydn and Gustav Mahler. Leon Botstein will conduct the performance as part of Bryant Park’s Picnic Performances series.

The event is free, with no tickets or reservations required. Bryant Park will also offer an official online livestream for people unable to attend in person.
