The Supreme Court of Pakistan today, took up for hearing, applications against the 21st constitutional amendment and planned formation of military courts to try terrorism related cases.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk heard initial arguments by counsel of the Lahore High Court Bar Association Hamid Khan.
LHCBA had maintained in its application that setting up military courts is against the basic structure of the country’s constitution.
The bench after initial arguments directed to issue notices to attorney general and four provincial advocate generals and ordered them to submit written replies in the next hearing.
The court adjourned the hearing till February 12.
