Former prime minister Imran Khan stated on Friday that he is willing to speak with Army Chief of Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir “for the good of the nation” and that he has “no dispute with the institution.”
He spoke at length with reporters at his Lahore house in Zaman Park about politics, his connections to the military, his dissatisfaction with former army head Qamar Javed Bajwa, and his decision not to attend court proceedings in Islamabad.
The president of Punjab, Arif Alvi, had already requested that elections be held on April 30; he had announced this date hours earlier.
When questioned why he wasn’t speaking to the military, he stated that Gen Bajwa “stabbed me in the back” and that he had never had a dispute with the “system.”
He continued by stating that he continued to speak with General Bajwa for the nation’s welfare even after he was removed from office. Yet, he asserted that General Bajwa was the one who intended to kill him. However, anyone who assumes that I shall kneel is mistaken.
Imran lambasted the retired general for “delivering a speech against Russia,” and a court martial was demanded.
He said, “For the betterment of the nation, I am willing to speak to the establishment even now, but what can I do if no one is willing to talk?
“It appears that [the present army head] views me as his enemy,” he continued.
The present army leader was then required to provide evidence of any charges of corruption made against him and his wife.
About his relationship with former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi, who just joined the PTI after leaving the PML-Q, he argued that the establishment lacked political expertise. So they did everything possible to get Chaudhry Parvez Elahi to quit my side “.
Imran said, “Now we must demonstrate our commitment to him,” emphasizing that he could not betray anyone.
This most recent critique of the retired general takes the form of observations. In a recent interview with Voice of America Urdu on February 10, Imran expressed his desire for a military inquiry of General Bajwa.
