In Sahiwal’s bustling market, Saleem Bagga, a food vendor resembling US President-elect Donald Trump, draws more customers and attention. “It feels as though Trump himself is here selling kheer (pudding),” commented Mohammad Yaseen, a local who favours Bagga’s dessert. Bagga, often seen as Trump’s lookalike, engages customers by singing while selling kheer on January 13, 2025.
Yaseen added, “We’re drawn to him when he sings.” At 53, Bagga manoeuvres his colourful wooden cart along the road, clad in a black jacket over his beige shalwar kameez to ward off the cold. His distinctive blond quiff, due to albinism, becomes more pronounced as he sings a Punjabi song about love and waiting.
Crowds gather, and local Imran Ashraf couldn’t resist a selfie. “His kheer is delicious,” Ashraf shared. “We chat, take selfies, and tell friends we’ve met Trump.”
Unperturbed by the attention and cameras, Bagga welcomes it even in his home district. “People see Trump in me, and I enjoy it,” he remarked, inviting the President-elect. “Mr. Trump, come try my kheer now that you’ve won. You’ll love it,” he encouraged.
