The Chaman border remains blocked to commerce and travel for the third day after an armed Afghan national opened fire near Bab-e-Dosti on Pakistani security officers.
In response to the death of a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier and the injury of two others during a cross-border incident on November 13, Pakistani authorities banned commercial activities.
Officials from Levies stated in a statement: “Bilateral trade, foot movement, and the immigration system at the border have been halted for the third day.”
They claimed that the terrorist responsible for the shooting was disguised as a Taliban official. “The hunt for the individual continues.”
Abdul Hameed Zehri, the Deputy Commissioner of the town of Chaman, which borders the Afghan province of Spin Boldak, stated that Pakistanis stranded in Afghanistan are permitted to re-enter the country once their identity cards are inspected.
“High-level conversations are being held to resolve the concerns at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and a flag meeting is scheduled for today,” the DC stated, adding that the border would stay closed until the individual responsible for the unfortunate occurrence is turned over to the Pakistani authorities.
The DC said that border regions and the district hospital had been placed on high alert.
According to Reuters, hundreds of vehicles carrying supplies were stranded on both sides due to the halt.
