A Telegram account scam is targeting users with fake support messages that threaten account blocking unless recipients click a link to confirm their accounts, RIA Novosti reported on Aug. 23.
The fraudulent messages claim Telegram has detected “suspicious activity” or received complaints about the targeted account. They also warn that alleged violations of the messaging platform’s rules could result in restrictions.
According to the report, scammers use the threat of an account block to pressure recipients into opening a link and completing a supposed account confirmation process.
Users who follow the link risk losing access to their Telegram accounts, while those who ignore the message are falsely warned that their accounts could be restricted or blocked.
