Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has debuted at number one, far outpacing its competitors.
The album cover of “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” has been shared on Taylor Swift’s Instagram.
This release sets a historic record, making Swift the fastest artist to achieve twelve UK number-one albums, previously held by The Beatles. While it took The Beatles fourteen years and one month to set this record, Swift achieved it in just eleven years and six months.
The Official Charts Company has highlighted Swift’s unique achievement, stating, “No other artist has achieved this level of success in such a condensed period.”
The album’s success isn’t confined to the UK; it also topped the charts in Australia and is expected to perform similarly in the US.
Upon its release, Spotify and Amazon Music reported “The Tortured Poets Department” as their most streamed album in a single day. By the following Wednesday, Spotify announced it had become their most streamed album in a week, with over 1 billion streams.
Music industry expert Mark Sutherland commented on Swift’s continued success to Business Recorder, saying, “We’re past the stage where you can be surprised by Taylor Swift’s achievements… every time you think she’s reached a ceiling, she appears to go beyond it with the next release.”
Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour continues to break sales records and brings significant economic benefits to the cities it visits.
In recognition of her impact on and beyond music, Time magazine named her its 2023 Person of the Year.
Swift’s “Eras Tour” is set to resume in Paris next month.
