Islamabad: A special committee formed to oversee China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project held its first meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, Samaa reported.
Senator Taj Haider was unanimously appointed as the convenier of the 23-member committee in the meeting.
Committee made suggestions to increase 50 percent funds for the southern route of the economic corridor project.
Demands of providing equal benefits for the people of Gwadar were also made by the committee.
Senator Taj Haider said that war is not favorable for any country and Pakistan cannot back off from the project despite aggressive pressure from India. He added that the aim of committee is to address all the concerns.
Members of the committee demanded calling members of planning commission in the next meeting for a briefing over the project.
