Somy Ali, an actress and social worker who dated Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the 90s, considers being known primarily as his ex-girlfriend her greatest curse.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Ali discussed her time with Salman, her work with her NGO No More Tears, and her interactions with figures like underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
When questioned about any benefits from her tumultuous relationship with Khan, such as increased recognition, Ali responded, “It is the biggest curse for me. Despite significant achievements in America, I’m still identified as Salman’s ex-girlfriend.” She added, “Salman, who will be 59 or 60 this December, still acts like a high school bully, harassing others due to his insecurities and telling people not to talk to me.”
Ali also touched on a conversation with Manisha Koirala, “Manisha thought I had cancer, which shocked me. I reached out because we hadn’t spoken in so long, and I wasn’t even aware of her cancer diagnosis.”

Discussing her relationship with Khan, Ali noted, “Salman has a pattern—the seven-year itch. Women typically stay with him for seven years before seeing his true nature. Interestingly, he never ends these relationships; the woman always leaves after discovering who he is.”
Ali revealed her long-standing detachment from the Indian film industry, linking it to her memories of Salman that evoke sadness and depression.
