The Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday granted protective bail to former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in two cases involving charges of multi-billion-rupee corruption.
SHC in today’s hearing granted protective bail to Memon after submitting security bonds of Rs.4 million in a reference filed against him by the National Accountability (NAB).
NAB accused Memon of Rs.5 billion embezzlement in awarding advertisements as Sindh Minister for Information to the print and electronic media illegally.
Another case pursued by NAB accuses him of being involved in illegal allotment of land.
Earlier, Memon appeared in the court today where he filed his bail application.
Last week, a bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted protective bail to him after he filed surety bonds worth two million rupees.
On March 18, the former minister was briefly detained by officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and NAB at the Islamabad airport as he arrived in Pakistan from Dubai, ending his self-exile.
