KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait: Iran struck a power and water distillation plant on Sunday, causing a fire and damaging generator units in the third attack on such infrastructure in three days, Kuwaiti authorities said.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the facility had been attacked for the second time in two days. Emergency protocols were activated as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
Kuwait asked residents to reduce electricity use as repeated attacks placed additional pressure on the Gulf state’s power network. Authorities had also reported an attack on an oil facility on Saturday.
The incident was reported early Sunday in Kuwait, where local time is two hours behind Pakistan Standard Time. The ministry did not disclose the exact time or identify the plant.
Air-raid sirens sounded in Kuwait City as the Kuwaiti military responded to Iranian aerial attacks. Bahrain also activated warning sirens, while explosions were reported in the north of the country and near the capital, Manama.
Iran’s army said it launched drones at US military assets in Kuwait in response to American attacks on Iranian territory. Iranian state media identified Camp Udairi and radar systems at Ali Al Salem Air Base as targets. Kuwait did not confirm damage at those specific military sites.

Bahrain, which hosts the US Fifth Fleet, accused Iran of targeting civilian locations. Kuwait and Bahrain both host US military installations and have faced repeated attacks since regional hostilities resumed.
US Central Command said two American service members were killed on Friday while defending against Iranian missile and drone attacks, while another remained missing.
