The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday denotified appointment of four National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials who could not be justified by their qualifications.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the case and ordered the competent authority to de-notify Director General (DG) NAB Lahore, Burhan Ali, DG NAB Quetta Tariq Mehmood, DG NAB Karachi Shabbir Ahmed and the accountability bureau’s DG Awareness and Prevention Aliya Rashid, (who was appointed for her services in sports field), all four were inducted without meeting the required qualifications.
The bench observed that all de-notified officials, however, would be eligible for pension and other perks and privileges.
In the previous hearing, NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry had apprised the bench that three NAB officials, had declined early retirement offer against whom de-notification orders passed by the court today.
The apex court in the previous hearing had summoned explanation from chairman NAB over induction of nine officers without required qualification in the bureau by terming it an irregularity in appointments within NAB.
