GAZA CITY: Updated Google Maps satellite images show widespread destruction across Gaza, while a United Nations assessment says about 82% of the territory’s structures have sustained damage.
Images taken in June show further damage to homes, businesses, places of worship and infrastructure. Large tented camps line sections of the coast, while Gaza’s main port appears badly damaged and surrounded by makeshift accommodation.
Across northern Gaza, the imagery shows extensive destruction in Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun. Gaza City neighbourhoods including Jabaliya and Shuja’iya have also suffered heavy damage.
In southern Gaza, Rafah appears largely reduced to rubble and Tel al-Sultan extensively destroyed. A broad cleared strip is also visible along the border with Egypt.
The United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) assessed 201,290 structures as damaged as of June 16, including 134,422 classified as destroyed.

Its assessment found that the number of destroyed structures had risen by 9% since October 2025. Meanwhile, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) estimates that Gaza contains 61 million tonnes of rubble.
UN officials have warned that human remains are still buried beneath destroyed buildings, complicating debris removal and recovery work.
