Russia and the United States will sign an agreement to continue design work on a Russia-US tunnel between Chukotka and Alaska, a Russian investment official said.
Kirill Dmitriev, chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, announced the plan in an interview with Zvezda TV. He spoke on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Dmitriev also serves as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.
“Tomorrow, we will sign an agreement to continue the tunnel design work,” Dmitriev said. He described the plan as one of the largest infrastructure projects between the two countries.
