Ronda Rousey comeback ended in a 17-second armbar win over Gina Carano on Saturday night, as the former UFC champion returned to MMA after 9 1/2 years away.
Rousey, 39, charged at Carano after the opening bell, took her down and locked in her signature armbar before officials stopped the bout. The fight at Intuit Dome marked the first live mixed martial arts event on Netflix.
Rousey improved to 13-2 and said she planned to retire again after the win. She said she wanted to leave the cage “as unscathed as possible” and called the finish “beautiful martial arts.”
Carano, 44, fought for the first time in 17 years. She said she felt ready and wanted the fight to last longer, but praised Rousey’s preparation and game plan.

The two fighters hugged after the stoppage and raised each other’s arms. Their bout brought together two major figures from women’s MMA history.
Rousey became the UFC’s first women’s champion during her rise in the 2010s. Carano helped bring women’s MMA to wider television audiences in the late 2000s before moving into acting.
