At least six Lyari gang war suspects were killed in separate encounters with paramilitary troops and police late evening today.
“Rangers, engaged violent criminals in Chakiwara and Jahanabad areas of violence-torn Lyari, in a gunfight with gangmen associated with Arshad Pappu group. Five outlaws went down at the end of the fight,” a Rangers spokesman told the media.
According to Rangers officials, three gangsters broke out of the encounter and disappeared in the dark alleys. “Our men are hot on their trail. They will not be able to stay at large for long,” he remarked.
The slain felons have been identified as Jamal and Riaz, while the identity of the others remains to be found.
The paramilitary troops say the mobsters were wanted for multiple counts of crime ranging from murder, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, etc.
Two more gangsters were killed in exchange of fire with the paramilitary force in Jahanabad.
