SAN FRANCISCO: Some investors are discussing a roughly $1.5 trillion valuation for Anthropic, PBC, below earlier expectations near $2 trillion, three people familiar with the discussions told Reuters.
The artificial intelligence (AI) developer is preparing an initial public offering (IPO) expected in November. Investors discussed the lower figure after attending its investor day on Wednesday.
However, those discussions reflect investors’ expectations rather than a company valuation the company has announced. At the meeting,
Anthropic told prospective investors that third-quarter revenue rose 45% to $16.8 billion from $11.6 billion in the previous quarter. It also reported an adjusted profit, according to people familiar with the disclosures.
Some attendees nevertheless expressed disappointment because revenue had more than doubled between the first and second quarters. The latest results therefore showed slower growth despite higher sales.

Chief executive Dario Amodei and finance chief Krishna Rao met investors at Anthropic’s headquarters. Many of the company’s most prominent backers attended. Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Meanwhile, the Claude developer has committed at least $518 billion over a decade to cloud services, computing and infrastructure. Google and Amazon serve as investors, computing suppliers and distribution partners, while also competing in AI.
