Punjab police department has suggested to the provincial government to form a ‘new’ Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe Model Town incident.
According to sources, police has formally requested the government to constitute a team in this regard.
Police have already included sections of the anti-terrorism act in Model Town tragedy’s first information report (FIR) that was lodged against the prime minister, Punjab chief ministers well as other federal ministers.
The sections were included to fulfill the demand of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahirul Qadri had rejected the FIR, saying that section of the anti-terrorism act was not included in the report.
