An Islamabad Sessions Court commanded the apprehension of a leader from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Monday, due to his involvement in a sedition case.
The case against the PTI leader, Gill, was lodged at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station, with allegations of his role in creating factionalism within the state institution.
The sedition case was presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sepra. The judge commented that Gill was intentionally stalling the case’s progression through his consistent absence from court proceedings.
Given his continued nonappearance, the court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to detain Shahbaz Gill and bring him before the court if he shows up at any of Pakistan’s airports. The court ordered the chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to block Gill’s Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
The court also instructed the relevant authorities to post an absconder notice at Gill’s residence in Faisalabad. The court has also requested detailed information on properties registered under Gill’s name in both Faisalabad and Islamabad.
On March 29, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted permission for Shahbaz Gill, the PTI leader and former SAPM, to travel to the United States (US) for four weeks.
