The United States of America said on Tuesday that the upcoming Islamabad protest and sit-in was Pakistan’s internal matter, stating that USA supported the democratic process in Islamabad.
Spokesperson for United States Department of State John Kirby said that United States considered the upcoming movement as well as the sit-in protest against the Pakistani government as the country’s internal matter. He said that USA supported peaceful protest.
He also spoke about the Quetta tragedy and expressed his deepest condolences with the families of those who had died in the terrorist attack.
“We condemn the Quetta attack in the strongest words,” said Kirby.
John Kirby voiced the need for more concerted and thorough efforts against terrorism. He said that USA would continue to work with Pakistan and other allies in their fight against terrorism.
“We are with the government of Pakistan in its efforts to eliminate terrorism,” he said.
Kirby said that Pakistan could play an active and direct role in maintaining peace in the region. He urged Islamabad to act against those militants and terrorists who attacked Pakistan’s neighbouring countries.
At least 61 security personnel were martyred and 117 injured when terrorists stormed the Police Training College located on Sariab Road late Monday night.
