KARACHI: Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti told ARY News in an interview published on Friday that Sindh would hold a Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 retake if an inquiry confirmed negligence.
Chishti chairs the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination. He said a four-member inquiry team had left Islamabad. It would reach Sukkur on Saturday.
His committee directed the health ministry to form the panel. Investigators will visit the Sukkur Institute of Business Administration and coordinate with the testing service. Their remit includes examining candidate participation at testing centres across Sindh, what happened at those centres and the facilities students received.
Chishti placed responsibility on the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the Sindh government if investigators established irregularities.

He described this year’s MDCAT results, particularly those from Karachi, as alarming. Those concerns prompted the committee to instruct the health ministry to investigate.
Paper-leak complaints had surfaced in Sindh two years earlier, Chishti recalled. He argued that authorities could have prevented the current situation by apprehending and punishing those responsible for earlier lapses.
“We would not be facing this situation today,” he said.
Chishti called for equal treatment of students from Karachi and elsewhere in Sindh. Neither group held superiority over the other, he added, and hard-working candidates deserved their due rights.
He maintained that no MDCAT complaints had come from other parts of Pakistan. The committee would decide its next course of action after the final inquiry report, Chishti added.
