A Pakistani diplomatic officer, Rana Naiyyer, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Afghan city of Jalalabad on Monday.
According to Foreign Office, Rana Naiyyer was targeted when he was standing outside his residence in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
Nayar’s family sources while talking to local news channel ‘Geo News’ said that the unidentified assailants were riding motorbikes, diplomatic sources say.
Rana Naiyyer had been working as an assistant at Pakistan Consulate in Jalalabad, a spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Office said, condemning the murder of the diplomatic staffer.
The spokesman called on the Afghan government to intensify security of Pakistani diplomats in Afghanistan. (PhotoNews / Geo News)
