Pakistan Motorway Authority has restored previous motorway and national highway speed limits with immediate effect, allowing cars and light vehicles to travel up to 120 km/h on motorways, officials said.
Officials confirmed that passenger and heavy vehicles can again travel up to 110 km/h on motorways. The restored limits apply to intercity travel across Pakistan.
Authorities said the previous speed regulations have also returned on national highways. The rules cover cars, light transport vehicles, passenger coaches and heavy vehicles.
The Motorway Police said implementation of the restored speed limits has already begun nationwide. A spokesperson said public convenience remains important, but road safety remains the top priority.
Citizens were urged to follow speed regulations and traffic laws. The Motorway Police also advised motorists to wear seatbelts and drive carefully for safer travel.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan directed authorities to expedite the implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems and cashless electronic toll collection on major highways and motorways. The measures aim to improve efficiency, security and public convenience.
