Pakistan expressed its deep dismay over allegations by Afghan officials regarding armed clashes in Helmand province.
In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We have seen with deep dismay the allegations by certain Afghan officials seeking to link Pakistan security personnel with the armed clashes in Helmand Province.”
“We reject these allegations as completely baseless.”
At a time when Pakistan is engaged in serious efforts with Afghanistan to address common challenges, it is imperative to refrain from making comments that would detract us from our endeavours to create a conducive environment for positive and productive engagement, the statement said.
It is pertinent to mention that in the past few days helmand province has been the scene of fierce gunbattles between Afghan govt. forces and the taliban who have overran a number of districts.
