Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit rejected Indian claims of surgical strike.

Basit in a interview on Wednesday with India Today told that Pakistan Army would have responded befittingly if India would have carried out a surgical strike as it claimed on September 29.

Basit denied that any surgical strike had taken place in Pakistan but rather in was a cross border fire due to ceasefire violation.

He denied any evidence of a surgical strike including interview of a police officer and asserted that it was fabricated, adding that if there was any surgical strike then Pakistan Army does not even require time for preparation to respond.

“If there was any surgical strike, Pakistan would have responded proportionately,” said Basit.

He said that Pakistan was striving to have good ties with India, which has sabotaged the SAARC Summit which have been postponed in the past as well. “Pakistan wants peace with every country,” he said

Basit, however, denied the impression that SAARC Summit has been cancelled and maintained that the summit is only postponed and will be held in Islamabad.

He said that Pakistan cannot proceed in investigating the Pathankot and Mumbai attack incidents, due to the non-cooperation from India which has not shared any evidence.

“Our investigation on Pathankot is progressing even though India Pakistan relations are deteriorating,” he said.

Basit lamented that India acted irresponsibly over the Uri incident and blamed Pakistan without any evidence.

He lexpressed disappointment over the fact that India was not interested to come to the table and discuss the Jammu and Kashmir, a issue Pakistan has been trying to resolve since years.
