Google has launched Google Playground, an experimental artificial intelligence platform that lets users create, customise and share browser games through text prompts without writing code.
The company introduced the platform on Wednesday, October 7, offering tools that let users turn game ideas into playable experiences through a conversational interface.
Google software engineer Maryam Karimzadehgan said Playground aims to make game development accessible to people without programming experience.
Users can begin with a blank project, modify existing templates or follow guided prompts. They can then adjust gameplay rules, characters, physics and environments by describing the changes they want.
The platform supports different game genres, including racing and trivia. Creators can choose between 2D and 3D graphics and upload images to use as game assets.

Once complete, games run directly in web browsers on smartphones and laptops. Users can keep their projects private, share links or publish games in the Playground Explore gallery.
Meanwhile, selected game categories offer multiplayer features and leaderboards. Google Play Games profiles allow players to follow creators and discover their projects.

Google ranks games in its public gallery using player ratings and activity. Published titles also undergo safety screening.
The company plans to introduce Unity Spark integration, which will offer more advanced game mechanics and high-quality three-dimensional development tools. However, Google has not announced a public release date for the integration.
