Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for October 2024, outperforming a strong field.
In October, Noman played a key role in Pakistan’s 2-1 victory over England in the ICC World Test Championship series. The left-arm took 20 wickets at an average of 13.85 in two Test match victories.
Noman’s performances surpassed South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner, making him the first Pakistani man to win since Babar Azam in August of the previous year.
Noman credited his teammates for their role in the series win against England. “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and deeply grateful to all my teammates who supported our historic home Test series win against England,” he said.
“It is always exciting to contribute to memorable wins for your country.”
In October, Noman delivered two crucial spells, ending with match figures 11/147 and 9/130. These performances helped Pakistan overturn their initial defeat and secure their first Test series win at home in three years.
With Pakistan setting a 297-run target in the second Test, Noman devastated the English batting lineup, taking 8/46, his best Test figures to date.
