Elon Musk announced that Neuralink has successfully implanted its brain-computer device in a third patient and will perform approximately 20 to 30 more implants in 2025.
Speaking at an event in Las Vegas streamed on his social media service X, Musk confirmed, “We’ve now got three humans with Neuralinks implanted, and they’re all working well.”
Neuralink, a leader among startups developing brain implants, aims to treat conditions such as paralysis and ALS through these devices. These experimental procedures generally involve surgically opening the skull to insert electrodes directly into the brain tissue. Neuralink initiated its first human implant with patient Noland Arbaugh a year ago.

The company is conducting two U.S. studies registered with the Food and Drug Administration. The Prime Study is designed for an estimated five patients and enables paralyzed individuals to control external devices like computers or smartphones using their minds.
The Convoy Study, intended for three patients, focuses on allowing individuals to operate devices such as assistive robotic arms.
