Former Pakistani Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif is set to return to Pakistan from Dubai on 21st October via a chartered flight named “Umeed-e-Pakistan.” This plane, with a capacity for 150 passengers, will land in Islamabad first and then proceed to Lahore. Here, Nawaz is scheduled to address a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Before this, Nawaz Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for Umrah and stay there for a week, holding significant meetings. He is expected in Dubai on 18th October. For the Saudi trip, he will be joined by close aides, including Mian Nasir Janjua and Waqar Ahmed. Janjua, a long-time friend and owner of MIDJAC company, had spent three years in exile with Nawaz in London.
The backstory involves accusations against the former PM, Imran Khan, and his then-secretary, Azam Khan. They allegedly tried to force Janjua to provide a false statement against PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz in a video scandal. Janjua left for London and only returned after Imran Khan’s regime ended.
Refuting rumours, PML-N Senators confirmed Nawaz’s present location in the UK and clarified that his Saudi visit is primarily for Umrah. Upon his return to Pakistan, precautions like transit and protective bail will be sought to ensure Nawaz isn’t arrested. The focus of PML-N, as stated by Ishaq Dar, will be on economic recovery.
