The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has suggested that Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif attend this year’s summit of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly which will be held in New York in September. A one-on-one meeting between the Pak-India PMs is widely expected.
Talking to journalists in Washington, PM’s Special Aide on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi stated that during the UN General Assembly summit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of several important countries including the United States (US).
When asked is Pakistan trying for a meeting of PM Nawaz Sharif with his Indian counterpart, Fatemi said Pakistan will welcome a meeting between the heads of both the neighboring states, which is widely expected.
‘The current Government of Pakistan took several measures in order to improve its ties with India and Afghanistan and Pakistan now expects both these countries to respond in a positive manner’, he added.
