Passengers will disembark in small groups of up to 10, sorted by nationality, and undergo testing to confirm they remain asymptomatic, Oceanwide Expeditions said. Aircraft from the U.S., Germany, France, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands are assisting in repatriation.
Seventeen American passengers will fly to the University of Nebraska Medical Centre’s National Quarantine Unit for an initial assessment and 42 days of daily home monitoring.
Fourteen Spanish passengers will be admitted to a military hospital in individual rooms, undergo PCR testing on arrival and after 7 days, and wear FFP2 masks during transfers.
An unidentified projectile struck a bulk carrier near Doha, Qatar, but it caused no casualties. WHO confirmed that the outbreak, linked to the Andes virus, remains a low risk to the general public.
The vessel will continue to Rotterdam after passenger evacuation for professional disinfection, while local tensions in Tenerife have prompted protests from port workers and political leaders over safety concerns.
