Sehar Kamran, a Member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has disclosed incidents of harassment experienced by female parliamentarians.
Speaking on Geo News’ Capital Talk, Kamran, alongside other female lawmakers, addressed the ongoing issue of harassment within the legislative body.
Sehar Kamran highlighted that harassment is prevalent not only within the parliament itself but also extends to its committees. She firmly stated that no individual has the right to criticize another’s choice of attire, emphasizing the need for respect and professionalism.
Additionally, Kamran noted that its implementation remains pending despite the passage of the Civic Education Bill in 2018, which aims to address such issues. She expressed concern over the escalating harassment women face in society today.

During the discussion, Nosheen Iftikhar, a PML-N leader, criticised Iqbal Afridi’s remarks attire. She argued that any objections should have been communicated directly rather than publicly, advocating for more respectful discourse.
The program also featured Senator Dr. Zarqa Taimoor from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). All three politicians concurred on the urgent need for legislative measures to protect women in parliament better and address issues concerning attire and harassment.
