A Lahore scooter robbery incident in Nawab Town has triggered a police investigation after a masked motorcyclist allegedly snatched a woman’s mobile phone at gunpoint. The CCTV footage of the attack shows the suspect intercepting the victim, robbing her, and then fleeing on a motorcycle.
The footage also shows the woman resisting and trying to stop the attacker. However, despite a brief scuffle, the suspect managed to escape at high speed.
Police said they have taken notice of the case and launched an investigation. Authorities also registered a case against the unidentified suspect on the complaint of the victim’s father.
The case has unsettled residents in the area, with many voicing concern over street crime. The incident has heightened fears among local residents, who are worried about public safety and rising robbery rates.
The public reaction intensified after the CCTV clip surfaced, as the footage appeared to show the brazenness of the robbery in a public space.
That visibility often puts greater pressure on law enforcement, especially when attackers target a woman in broad daylight or in a crowded urban area.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also took notice of the robbery and directed Lahore police to arrest the suspect within eight hours.
In her statement, she called the incident deeply distressing and said crimes against women are unacceptable. She also stressed that protecting women remains a top priority and instructed authorities to adopt effective measures to prevent similar incidents and improve safety.
That response has placed additional pressure on the police to show quick progress in the investigation.
Earlier, the Lahore case involved two dacoits in custody who faced accusations of snatching gold earrings from a woman. Officials said police killed the suspects in an encounter in the Manawan area after their alleged accomplices opened fire on a police vehicle.
By linking the two incidents, the report places the Nawab Town robbery within a wider conversation about street crime and enforcement in Lahore. It also shows how crimes targeting women continue to provoke strong public and official reactions.
