Kylian Mbappe is still entangled in a dispute with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and its principal shareholder, Qatar Sports Investments, over unpaid wages totalling nearly 55 million Euros.
The outstanding amount includes salaries for the final three months of his contract (April, May, and June), a contractual ethical bonus for these months, and the last portion of a signing bonus due in February, totalling 36 million Euros. As Le Monde reported, Mbappe’s representatives officially notified PSG of these issues in mid-June.
Mbappe has escalated the issue by filing a complaint with the legal committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP), invoking Article 259 of France’s professional football charter. This regulation mandates that clubs pay players wages by the last day of each month. The case was then escalated to UEFA through the French Football Federation (FFF).
After a seven-year tenure at PSG, during which he became the club’s all-time leading scorer, Mbappe’s relationship with the club ended acrimoniously, marked by a reported heated exchange with PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Now with Real Madrid, the 2018 World Cup winner celebrated a win in the UEFA Super Cup and participated in a 1-1 draw with Mallorca in Real Madrid’s La Liga season opener.
