Saudi Arabia recently unveiled the design for King Salman Stadium, a massive venue with a capacity of 92,000 that will host the 2034 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Riyadh.
The Saudi Ministry of Sports released a promotional video featuring computer-generated imagery of the state-of-the-art stadium, slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2029.
The stadium will primarily host the Saudi national football team. It will be part of a larger sports complex with an indoor sports hall, an Olympic-sized pool, and other facilities.
Although FIFA has not officially confirmed the host, Saudi Arabia is the likely choice for the 2034 World Cup. It was the only nation to submit a formal bid by the late 2023 deadline.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm Populous, the King Salman Stadium is intended to redefine sports and entertainment infrastructure globally.
This project is central to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to make the country a global hub for sports and culture.
The country plans to build 11 stadiums for the tournament. The King Salman Stadium will feature a Royal Box, 300 VVIP seats, hospitality suites, lounges encircling the seating area, and 2,200 VIP seats.
The design incorporates green walls and roofs, connecting the stadium to its surroundings. It will also offer gardens and a rooftop walking path that provides panoramic views of the neighbouring King Abdulaziz Park.
