Kimi Antonelli won the Miami GP for Mercedes on Sunday, beating McLaren’s Lando Norris by 3.2 seconds at Hard Rock Stadium to extend his Formula One title lead.
The 19-year-old Italian became the first driver in Formula One history to convert his first three career pole positions into race victories. He also became the first winner in five Miami Grand Prix editions to start from the front row.
Norris, who won Saturday’s sprint, led by about three seconds before the pit-stop phase. Mercedes pitted Antonelli first, and the undercut allowed him to move ahead when Norris stopped one lap later.
“We got undercut, we should have boxed first,” Norris said after finishing second. He said McLaren had a chance to win but lacked the pace to pass Antonelli in the closing laps.
Oscar Piastri completed the podium for McLaren, while Mercedes driver George Russell finished fourth. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen recovered to fifth after a first-lap spin dropped him to 10th.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished sixth after late damage and faced a post-race investigation for alleged track-limit breaches. Lewis Hamilton was seventh for Ferrari, ahead of Alpine’s Franco Colapinto and Williams drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
