Kanye West’s new song, “Vultures 2,” from the album, has sparked discussions. The track features lyrics mentioning Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, which seems to reignite the feud that began in 2009 when West interrupted Swift’s MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech.
Taylor Swift, who stars in the Eras Tour, has eclipsed West in the music industry. This may be fueling feelings of rivalry in the 47-year-old rapper. In the collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign titled “¥$,” there are notable digs at Swift and her NFL star husband, suggesting jealousy.
Ty Dolla $ign’s lyrics, “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” are seen by fans as an attempt to provoke both anger and discussion, reflecting West’s ongoing reluctance to address Swift directly.
In what might be a response, Swift released a digital version of “The Tortured Poets Department” with a bonus track on the same day, potentially aiming to overshadow West’s release.
The backstory of their feud traces back to 2009, when a young Swift, at 19, was interrupted by West during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Despite Beyonce winning the most awards that evening, Swift’s “You Belong with Me” won in her category, visibly upset West. His interruption and the subsequent backlash marked the beginning of their long-standing feud. Beyonce later allowed Swift to finish her speech during her own allotted time after winning Video of the Year.
