John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, passed away at 112. According to Guinness World Records, citing a family statement, he died in a care home in Southport, northwest England, where he resided.
Tinniswood, born in Liverpool on August 26, 1912, assumed the title in April after the death of Juan Vicente Perez from Venezuela, who was 114. His family described his last day as filled with “music and love,” expressing gratitude towards those who cared for him over the years.

Tinniswood witnessed significant historical events, including the World Wars and the sinking of the Titanic. As shared with Guinness World Records, he once attributed his long life to “pure luck. “
He believed in living life in moderation to maintain health. “If you drink too much, eat too much, or walk too much, if you do too much of anything, you’re going to suffer eventually,” he remarked.

During World War II, Tinniswood worked administratively with the Royal Army Pay Corps and later managed accounts for oil companies Shell and BP.
A dedicated fan of Liverpool football club, he also enjoyed fish and chips every Friday. The title of the world’s oldest living woman currently belongs to Tomiko Itooka of Japan, who is 116.
