Iran World Cup base plans have shifted from Tucson, Arizona, to Tijuana, Mexico, Iranian Football Federation president Mehdi Taj said.
Taj said FIFA approved the request after meetings with World Cup officials in Istanbul and a webinar with FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafström.
Iran is scheduled to face New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21 in Los Angeles. They will then play Egypt in Seattle on June 26.
Taj said that Tijuana gives Iran a shorter route to Los Angeles than Tucson does. He said the flight would take about 55 minutes.
Iran is preparing for the tournament in Antalya, Turkey. BBC Sport said FIFA had not yet confirmed the base change.
